Betty Mae Higley, age 86, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015, in Colorado. She loved traveling with her husband, camping, being with family, pitching horseshoes, square and polka dancing, making wine and enjoyed living and working their farm. Betty retired from the Ohio Art Company, the Etch-a-Sketch line, in 1990.
Betty was born July 7, 1928, in Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of Ernest C. and Ethel M. (Kinneer) Hudkins. She married Denver Higley on July 3, 1948 and he preceded her in death. Betty is survived by her son, Denver D. “Doug” (Karen) Higley, of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan; daughter, Tamara S. (Kent) Replogle, of Westminster, Colorado; four grandchildren, Peter (Lisa) Higley, of Seattle, Washington, Kristy Higley (Brad VanHorn), of Palatine, Illinois, Seth (Amanda) Replogle, of Thornton, Colorado and Amy (Mike) Werpy, of Thornton, Colorado; eight great grandchildren, Lindsey, Natalie and Brandon Replogle, Sophia Higley, Benjamin and Joshua Werpy and Jasper and Ellie VanHorn. Also surviving are her siblings, Doris (Russell) Hinesley, Charles “Chuck” (Lori) Hudkins, Ernest Owen Hudkins, DeAnn Karnes, Judy (Robert) Lorentz and Janet (Douglas) McLean and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years, Denver, son, Vernon Craig Higley, great grandson, Joseph Werpy and four sisters.
A memorial service will be held at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Kent Replogle officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.
