Virginia Mae Fraker, 92

Virginia Mae “Ginny” Fraker, age 92, of Wauseon, passed away May 8, 2015 at the Fulton Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wauseon. She was born on August 29, 1922 to Basil and Wave (Hale) Belding of Fayette, Ohio.

Virginia graduated from Fayette High School in 1940 and married Donal M. Fraker of Wauseon on July 18, 1943. She worked at Labarr’s Restaurant in Fayette, and the Hurd Lock Defense Plant during World War II. Later she worked in Wauseon at Miller’s Super Valu and retired in 1978 from Roger Miller Ford.

All of her life Virginia loved to talk with people, and took great pride in remembering the many family and friends that she had contact with. In her retirement years, she would stay active at home by doing her own cooking, cleaning, ironing and sewing. Her morning hours were spent working the crossword puzzles in the Toledo Blade and reading current events in the newspapers. She also found time to write letters, thank-you notes and greeting cards to many people.

Virginia was a member of the Wauseon Congregational United Church of Christ, and was a past Sunday school children’s superintendent. She also was past assistant treasurer of the church and past treasurer of UCC Women’s Fellowship. Virginia was a 25 year member of Wauseon OCCL, past district President of the NW district OCCL and was pin chair from 1968-72.

She is survived by her son, Wally (Nettie Rose) of Haskins and daughter, Wendy (DeArle) Tanner of Tedrow, grandsons Kevin (Amy) Fraker and Douglas (Melissa) Fraker, brother Jerry Belding, two great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons, four step grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 69 years, grandson Timothy Fraker, great-granddaughter Samantha Fraker, brother Richard Belding, sister Jeanette Johnston, brothers-in-law Galen Johnston and Victor Fraker, sisters-in-law Jill Belding, Florence Belding, Annabelle Fraker, and three nephews and one niece.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon with Bill Kerr officiating. Interment will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to either the Wauseon Congregational United Church of Christ, the Fulton Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center or the charity of the donor’s choice.
