The city of Toledo has announced it’s intention to withdraw from the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, due to it’s objections to recent amendments to the CCNO bylaws that Toledo claims would put an additional financial burden on the city. The Bryan Times reports that CCNO was informed by a letter from the Mayor of Toledo at CCNO’s special board meeting held Wednesday. The city of Toledo specifically objected to amendments that require the city to pay for at least 228 jail beds per year at CCNO, regardless of how many jail beds the city actually uses. It also would require Toledo to pay for offenders sentenced in Toledo Municipal Court under the Ohio Revised Code instead of requiring Lucas County to pay for such offenders as required by Ohio law.
