James Dell, 59

James V. Dell, 59 years, of rural Defiance, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in his residence with his family by his side.  Jim was born July 24, 1955 in Defiance, Ohio, the son of the late Vernon C. and Alice M. (Hill) Dell.  He was a 1973 graduate of Fairview High School and attended four county career center studying maintenance. He married Roberta A. Miller on May 30, 1981 in Delaware Bend. Jim worked at Spangler Candy as a Process Mechanic for 41 years until his retirement on September 30, 2014. He was a member at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Jim was also a member of the Sherwood VFW Post 5665 and the Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233. Jim was a family man enjoying spending time with his wife and boys. He found enjoyment working with his hands, tinkering in the garage and helping others.

Surviving is his wife, Roberta of Bryan; three sons, Taylor (Claire Beaufort) Dell of Brooklyn, New York, Charlie (Rebekah Ridgway) Dell of Bryan, and Sam Dell of Fort Collins, Colorado; two sisters, Vicki Shepherd of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Judy (Jake Shell) LaCourse of Sherwood; two nephews, Tony LaCourse of Defiance, and Matthew (Liz Aigular) Shepherd of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two nieces, Megan (Kyle) Wonderly of Cincinnati, and Sarah (Wes Jones) LaCourse of Columbus; one great nephew, Parker Jones.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for James V. Dell will be held from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday June 10, 2015 in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood, where scripture services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015 at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Delaware Bend, with Father Robert Kill officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Cemetery.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to Community Health Professionals Hospice, 6825 State Route 66 North, Defiance, Ohio, 43512, Sherwood VFW Post 5665, or to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family also requests friends and family to plant a tree in memory of Jim to help replenish our natural resources.
