Lloyd E. Bates, age 94, of Metropolis, IL passed away June 17, 2015 at the Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Prior to his retirement he had been a Flight Specialist for the Federal Aviation Administration.
Mr. Bates was born in Wauseon on December 28, 1920 the son of the late Charles and Tressa (Metcalf) Bates. He married the former Helen Wagner and she survives. He was a US Army Air Corp veteran of WWII having served as a Fighter pilot in the European theater.
Surviving besides his wife are his children; Janet (Jack) Feasby of Metropolis, IL and Roland (Linda) Bates of Alpharetta, GA, and four grandchildren.
Funeral Services are pending. The Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon has been entrusted with arrangements.
