Ohio Holiday Stats Released

The Ohio State High­way Patrol made 690 arrests for impaired dri­ving and 391 for drug-related charges over this Fourth of July hol­i­day period. Seven peo­ple lost their lives in a total of six traf­fic crashes on state high­ways dur­ing the four-day report­ing period. The Patrol responded to 643 crashes and made 55,000 traf­fic con­tacts in total, which included assist­ing more than 4,500 motorists. Troop­ers also issued 6,054 cita­tions this year for safety belt vio­la­tions and 2,675 cita­tions for aggres­sive dri­ving.

Dur­ing the report­ing period in 2014, 12 peo­ple died in 11 crashes. Five of those crashes were OVI-related, killing six people.
