A convicted sex offender was sentenced to five years in prison on Monday in Steuben Circuit Court. 27-year-old Christopher Fugate was arrested by U.S. Marshals in January in Hicksville. Fugate was sentenced to two years in prison for his failure to register as a sex or violent offender after he was released from the Indiana Department of Corrections, where he served time for a conviction on a felony charge of sexual misconduct with a minor. He was handed another three years, which will run consecutively, on the probation violation. At the end of the day, Fugate was also given credit for 166 days already served in the Steuben County Jail.
