Trooper Involved In Crash

A trooper from the Van Wert post of the Ohio State High­way Patrol was one of three peo­ple injured when a vehi­cle slammed into his marked patrol car as he was assist­ing a stranded motorist Mon­day morn­ing. Trooper Jared Miller was taken to Pauld­ing County Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment of non-life threat­en­ing injuries as a result of the patrol car being struck from behind on Ohio 613 in Pauld­ing County. It hap­pened around 11:30AM on Mon­day, when 79 year old Ray Mullins of Oak­wood, who was east­bound on Ohio 613, slammed into the sta­tion­ary cruiser and one of the other parked vehi­cles that was wait­ing on a tow truck to arrive. 24 year old Lau­ren Teague of Fort Wayne, was taken to an area hos­pi­tal for treat­ment of minor facial injuries she sus­tained when her vehi­cle was struck by Mullins’ vehi­cle.
Mullins was treated at the scene by Oak­wood EMS for a minor facial injury. Alco­hol or drugs are not con­sid­ered to be a fac­tor in the crash. So far, no charges have been filed. The crash is still under investigation.
