Al Roker stops at Montpelier during record setting jaunt

Montpelier residents got a thrill last night, when Today Show Weatherman Al Roker came to town. He’s been making his way around the country to set the record for the fastest time ever for reporting the weather from all 50 states. He told residents he chose Montpelier because it’s the birthplace of the man who coined the term “wind-chill factor.” That man, Paul Siple, who became an Antarctic explorer, was born in Montpelier in 1908. After Roker’s stop here, he’s in Louisiana today to do the weather for NBC. It’s part of a fundraiser for Feeding America, helping people in need across the country. His cross-country journey wraps Friday in New York.
