Kenneth A. Schnitz, age 62, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at his home. Mr. Schnitz worked as a tow motor drive for FSI in Archbold and had previously worked in management at Chief Supermarkets for 35 years. “Lightnin’”, as he was known to his family and close friends, was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the National Rifle Association and the Defiance Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed shooting, hunting, watching NASCAR and the Denver Broncos and going to gun shows. Kenneth A. Schnitz, was born on August 25, 1953 in Decatur, Indiana, the son of Ralph “Al” and Mary M. (Ohler) Schnitz. He married Mary Lou Miller on April 16, 1983 in Defiance and she survives.
Ken is also survived by a son, 1SG Kerry A. (Jennifer) Schnitz, with the US Army in Germany; daughters, Kristy (Casey) Proudfit, of Napoleon, Stephanie (Corey) Stein, of Montpelier and Carrie (Jason) King, of West Unity; five grandchildren, Kelsea Stein, Layne Schnitz-Paxton, Kenzie Stein, Karissa Schnitz and Wyatt Proudfit; his father, Al Schnitz, of Napoleon: brother, Terry Schnitz, of Columbus, Ohio and a sister, Gloria (Bob) Myers, of Cecil. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary M. Schnitz and a step son, Zachary Fronk.
Funeral services for Kenneth A. Schnitz will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 11, 2015, in Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Mary Beth Smith-Gunn officiating. Burial at Riverview Memory Gardens near Defiance will be at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio.
Memorials may be given to the Defiance Fish and Game Club or Trinity Lutheran Church.
