Algae not the type to produce toxins, DCHD says

The algae in the Maumee River is not dangerous, according to the Defiance County Health Department. They tested the water and determined the algae visible in the river is not the type that produces harmful cynatoxins. You’ll see warning signs on the River just as a precaution as the algal blooms which do produce toxins can be in the water at any time, according to the health department’s environmental health director.
