The Ohio Arts Council approves over 12-million dollars in grants…over 75 thousand of it will be distributed in Northwest Ohio to help arts initiatives. The OAC board approved 635 new grants, in all. The Defiance Community Cultural Council in Defiance received 2-thousand dollars. They were seeking funds to support the expansion of an annual jazz festival and ethnic music series. The Huber Opera House and Civic Center in Hicksville received 6-thousand dollars. They want to support the expansion of a youth theatre-arts training program, which emphasizes hands-on and professional training in stagecraft and production.
