At The Polls

At last check, only 18 of 1,675 registered voters in Bryan precincts E & F…a little more than 1%…had cast their ballots at the polling location at the First Lutheran Church on North Cherry Street. That low turnout held true throughout election day in Williams County…as a lack of contested issues, unopposed incumbents and low profile state committee races were the only things on Tuesday’s ballot. Just 1,089 Williams County voters turned out for the unusual second primary, where Ohio voters cast ballots only for Ohio House of Representatives…Ohio Senate…local issues…and Democrat and Republican State Central Committees. Holding two primaries leading up to a general election is unusual. But due to the failure of the Ohio Redistricting Commission to draw maps the state Supreme Court deemed constitutional, Senate and House districts were unsettled and could not be included in the first primary, back on May 3.
