Auction Raises $$ For Honor Flight

Some money was raised over the weekend in Auburn which will now be used to fly veterans to Washington DC.

A 1964 Chevy Impala SS was put up for bid at Auctions America on Sunday. It sold for $26,000, and now that money will be used to help raise funds for Honor Flight Northeast Indiana.

Honor Flight takes veterans to Washington D.C. to thank them for their service. Each plane ride costs about $55,000, meaning that the money raised from yesterday’s auction will cover about half of one flight.

Jerry Rathburn bought the 1964 Chevy Impala SS specifically to fund sending dozens of World War II vets to the capital.

The next Honor Flight is October 1st, and will be the organization’s 14th Honor Flight.
