Barbara N. Geren, 73

Barbara N. Geren, age 73, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 11:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio, after an extended illness. Mrs. Geren was a longtime resident of the Bryan area and was known for her love of the Halloween season that she decorated for year round at her home, which was affectionately called Geren’s Ghoul Yard. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and for many years she was an emergency foster parent, taking in more than fifty children who came to know her as Grandma Barb. Barb also was quick to give a plate of cookies or a loaf of homemade bread to anybody she came in contact with.

Barbara N. Geren was born on September 11, 1943, in Worcester, Massachusetts, the daughter of Harry and Helen Barbara (Urban) Bedford. She married Edward I. Geren on September 11, 1964, in Morenci, Michigan, and he survives.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her five children, Gina (Robert Brown) Geren-Brown, of Bryan, John Geren, of West Unity, Ohio, Beth (Patrick) Miller, of Pioneer, Ohio, Ben (Rachel) Geren, of Bryan, and Mark Geren, also of Bryan; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Janey Paredes, of West Unity. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harry Bedford.

In keeping with Barbara’s wishes there will be no visitation or services.

Service arrangements have been entrusted to Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan.
