Bessie A. Wright, 74

Bessie A. Wright, age 74, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away at 9:15 P.M. on Monday, February 19, 2018, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton surrounded by her family. Mrs. Wright was a 1961 graduate of Edgerton High School and graduated from the Lutheran Hospital School of nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Throughout her nursing career she worked at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, for Dr. Boerger, Park View Nursing Center, Bryan Hospital, Bryan Nursing Care Center and retired from Hillside Country Living near Bryan. She was a charter member of Edgerton EMS Squad 38, which later became Medic-1 and faithfully served from 1975-1996. In 1990 she received Williams Counties “EMT of the Year” award recognizing her years of service to the county emergency services. Bessie was also active in the community as a faithful member of the Edgerton United Methodist Church, as a Brownie Scout leader for five years, the Edgerton Music Boosters, as a member of the village council and of the Free Store Board. She was Defiance College “Parent of the Year” in 1986, and Edgerton’s “Citizen of the Year” in 1998. Most of all she enjoyed family, sewing and baking Christmas cookies and swimming with the grandkids.

Bessie A. Wright was born on October 9, 1943, in Edgerton, the daughter of Victor L. and Nora N. (Frager) Hopkins.

Survivors include two daughters Kelly Jo Wright, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Leslie (John) VanAusdale, of Edgerton; two sons, Curtis (Tammy) Wright, of Edgerton and Heath (Brandy) Wright, of Maumee, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Caleb, Shayla, Nolan and Issac Wright, Nora Kinder and Emma Kelley, and Ariel and Logan Moore; two sisters, Susan (Duane) Suffel, of Edgerton and Winifred (Jerry) Beadle, of Fremont, Indiana; and a brother-in-law, Joe Hinkle, of Edgerton. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Evadne Wagner and Marjorie Hinkle.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton. Services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. in the Edgerton United Methodist Church with Reverend R.L. Barnett officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton.
