Bicyclist Killed In Defiance

A bicy­clist is dead fol­low­ing an acci­dent Wednes­day evening in Defi­ance. 54 year old John Clay, of Defi­ance, was south­bound on the side­walk of the Clin­ton Street Bridge on Wednes­day night, when he lost con­trol of the bike, and fell into the south­bound lane of the bridge, where he was hit by a vehi­cle dri­ven by 20 year old Ari­ana Barn­hart of Defi­ance. Clay was taken to ProMed­ica Defi­ance Regional Hos­pi­tal where he later died of his injuries. Barn­hart was not injured. So far, no charges have been filed, and the acci­dent is under inves­ti­ga­tion. Defi­ance police ask that any­one who may have seen it hap­pen, call them at 419–784-5050.
