BIGNELL GETS 15 YEARS

A Mont­pe­lier man learned his fate Thurs­day in Williams County Court.

40 year old Daniel Bignell JR will spend the next 15 years behind bars, after which he will have to reg­is­ter as a sex­ual preda­tor every 90 days for the rest of his life.

Bignell was sen­tenced yes­ter­day after plead­ing guilty last year to three counts of rape involv­ing under­age girls.

Bignell didn’t speak on his own behalf at yesterday’s sen­tenc­ing.

The sen­tence requires Bignell to serve five years in a state pen­i­ten­tiary for each of the three counts of rape. Those sen­tences will be served con­sec­u­tively, not con­cur­rently, with no chance of early or con­di­tional release.
