BIGNELL TRIAL BEGINS

The trial of 40 year old Daniel Bignell Jr. got underway Monday in the Williams County Court of Common Pleas.

Bignell is accused of five counts of rape, two counts of attempted rape, four counts of gross sexual imposition, and three counts of kidnapping. His alleged victims were all underage at the time… 4, 6, and 8 years old.

If convicted of rape or kidnapping with sexual motivation, Bignell faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. If convicted lesser charges including gross sexual imposition, he’s looking at a minimum five-year prison sentence.

If Bignell is convicted of any one of the charges, he then will be required to register as a Tier-3 sex offender for the rest of his life.

The trial continues today in Williams County.
