William “Bill” P. Vogelsong, age 82, of Defiance, Ohio, went to be with the Lord at 1:05 P.M. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at Community Health Partners Inpatient Hospice in Defiance. Mr. Vogelsong was an Elevator Mechanic with the Otis Elevator Company in Chicago for 31 years. He served our country in the US Army during the Korean War. Bill was a member of the Family Christian Center and Local #2 Elevator Constructors Union.
Bill was born on August 15, 1931, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Charles W. and Marguerite (Mawhorr) Vogelsong. He married his beloved sweetheart, Elizabeth “Liz” Chobanian on August 2, 1958 in Chicago, and she survives.
Survivors also include his children, Michelle Vogelsong, of Defiance, Jeffrey (Linda) Vogelsong, of Fort Wayne and Trina Vogelsong, of Defiance; bother, Howard (Juanita) Vogelsong, of Sherwood; sister, Edna Beardsley, of Sherwood and sisters-in-law, Sandra Vogelsong, of Sherwood and Barbara Joan Vogelsong, of Defiance. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ralph, Harold and Kenneth Vogelsong and infant sisters, Barbara and Patricia Vogelsong.
Bill’s greatest earthly treasures were his family and friends. Please join us in celebrating Bill’s life and home going on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Family Christian Center, 1832 East 2nd Street, Defiance with Pastor Tim Tracy officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the Family Christian Center or QUADCO’s Defiance Center.
