A cause of an explosion that leveled a rural Defiance County home on Aug. 21 is determined. The blast at 15525 Sponseller Road is thought to be an accidental fire. Officials say the probable cause was a propane leak in the crawlspace. Defiance crews were called to the one-story home to find it fully engulfed. The five occupants were all able to escape with only minor injuries. The house was a total loss.
