Body of a man found along the Maumee River identified

Authorities have identified the body of a man found along the Maumee River in the Mary Jane Thurstin Park near the village of Grand Rapids. The Wood County Sheriff’s office says the body of 45 year- old Donovan Shane Bowden of Defiance was recovered on May 18th. Bowden was reported missing to Defiance Police by his wife in February 17th of this year. Mr. Bowden’s body was discovered about 11:30 a.m. and had been in the water for a substantial amount of time, according to authorities. The Lucas County Coroner’s office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Police say foul play is not suspected.
