Bryan Board of Education recognized for efforts to help military families.

A representative from the Ohio School Board Association recognizes the Bryan City Board of Education for its efforts to help military families within the district. Marty Rothey of OSBA said Bryan is one of few districts where all three schools (high school, middle school and elementary) have earned Purple Stars. The award is given annually by the Ohio Department of Education to schools that are committed to serving students and families involved in the armed forces. According to the Ohio Department of Education, for a school to qualify it must have a staff point of-contact for military students and families that serves as the primary liaison between them and the school. That staff member must complete professional development courses, like a military child education course, and the district may also implement various programs with military children in mind.
