Bryan budget update.

Bryan city’s budget for 2024 is lower than what was proposed for this year, but more than what the city is actually spending in 2023. The council passed, under suspension of rules requiring three readings, an ordinance providing for next year’s budget. Officials say next year’s budget is 4.7% lower than what was projected for 2023. The overall budget for Bryan comes in at $56.7 million dollars, with the general fund being $8.4 million. The budget shows revenue from the city’s income tax at about $8.1 million for 2024. An ordinance passed later by council projected revenue from the income tax at about $7.7 million at the end of 2023. For 2024, the city’s enterprise funds are projected at $28.6 million, with the electric fund being $19.7 million of that and water at $2.8 million dollars. The capital projects fund comes in at $2.5 million, as well.
