BRYAN MUNICIPAL UTILITIES IN THE TOP 10

Solar Elec­tric Power Asso­ci­a­tion on Tues­day announced that Bryan Munic­i­pal Util­i­ties has been ranked on the association’s annual Top 10 list of Amer­i­can elec­tric util­i­ties that have added the most new solar power to their sys­tems and the most solar on a watts-per-customer basis in 2012.

Bryan Munic­i­pal Util­i­ties broke ground for its 14-acre solar array in early Decem­ber 2011. The solar plant started gen­er­at­ing power on Bryan’s elec­tri­cal grid by mid-February 2012. Gen­er­a­tion in 2012 equaled enough to power 278 aver­age homes.

Bryan Munic­i­pal Util­i­ties is a customer-owned, non-profit munic­i­pal util­ity pro­vid­ing approx­i­mately 6,000 cus­tomers with water, elec­tric, and com­mu­ni­ca­tions ser­vices in Bryan.
