Bryan Voters Approve Tax Renewal

Bryan city voters approved the renewal of the city’s one-half percent income tax.

The levy passed with 622 votes in favor of the tax, and 277 against, however those results are still unofficial.

Mayor Doug Johnson, after the final results were posted, told the Bryan Times that there will be no need to assess for street, sewer or treatment plant repairs in the foreseeable future.

Johnson said the city council had scheduled a special meeting for noon today in case the levy failed. But since it passed, the meeting has been canceled.
