Defiance County man enters pleas in sexual assault case By Newsroom A local man entered pleas of sexual abuse charges in Defiance County Common Pleas Court. 62 year old Ronald Brown of Ohio 111, pleaded guilty to two counts of rape; one count of attempted rape with a specification that the victim was less than 10 years of age; and one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and his bond was continued. Sentencing was scheduled for 10 a.m. on May 17. The offenses charged in connection with children less than 10 years of age are related to a course of conduct occurring from approximately July 2016 through January 2017. Authorities further allege between June and September of 2006, Brown engaged in sexual conduct with a 14-year-old female. Apr. 23, 2017 at 5:26 pm 15-year-old boy is facing a criminal investigation after allegedly sending a general threat against Central Local Schools By Newsroom According to Defiance County Sheriff Doug Engel, a 15-year-old boy is facing a criminal investigation after allegedly sending a “general threat” against Central Local Schools. Engel alleged that the teen made the threat against the district in a message sent via the internet on April 8 to another juvenile. Law enforcement was informed of the threat on Wednesday, 11 days later. The district reportedly learned of the threat on Wednesday afternoon as well. The student was “removed” from Central Local Schools on Wednesday. School superintendent Vicki Brunn noted that this is an ongoing criminal investigation and they are cooperating in any way they can. The child and stepmother weren’t hurt. Officials says the Amber Alert issued for baby Winston helped them catch Ramey.Authorities say he broke into the family’s house in Delta on March 14 and shot 23-year-old Amanda Mangas in the chest. She later died at a hospital. Prosecutors in Fulton County said Wednesday they will seek a death sentence after Ramey was indicted on 22 counts, including aggravated murder. Ramey has been held at the Community Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio since he was arrested and brought back to Ohio.
