Defiance County’s board of elections has selected a new deputy director after the retirement of its director, Mike Yambor. Yambor, a Democrat, plans to step down on Dec. 22, after 2 1/2 years in the position, and will be replaced by Tonya Wichman, the board’s Republican deputy director. Wichman’s position will be taken by Democrat, Kimberly Smith, a local attorney.
