Christa I. Hitt, 87

Christa I. Hitt, 87 years, of Jackson, Michigan and formerly of Bryan and Archbold, Ohio passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 in RidgeCrest Health Campus, Jackson, Michigan. Christa was born August 3, 1930 in Bremen, Germany to the late Max and Helne (Genieser) Schober. She married Louis C. Hitt on July 20, 1948 in Bremen, Germany and he preceded her in death. Christa worked as a cashier and managed the dairy department at Red and White Supermarket for over 15 years, retiring in 1974. She was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was very active. Christa also was a founding member of the Bryan International Club. In her free time, Christa enjoyed visiting with others, often known as a “social butterfly”. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family.

Surviving is her son, Norbert (Pennie) Hitt of Jackson, Michigan; three grandchildren, Nicole (J.D.) Woolsey of Phoenix, Arizona, Erik Hitt (Teresa Myers) of Scottsdale, Arizona and Melissa Brown (Eric Vandernoot) of Muskegon, Michigan; five great-grandchildren, Reagan Woosley, Lincoln Woolsey, Noah Woosley, Eden Hitt and Lemmy Hitt; sisters-in-law, Doris Carlin of Bryan, Ohio and Lorene Schober of St. Augustine, Florida. Christa was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Rick, and her husband.

The family is grateful to the staff at RidgeCrest and Henry Ford Allegiance Health Hospice of Jackson for their loving care.

Memorial services for Christa I. Hitt will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.
