Clarence A. “Sonny” Whipple, 74

Clarence A. “Sonny” Whipple, age 74, of Wauseon, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017, at Swanton Health Care and Retirement Center. Prior to his retirement he had been and over-the-road truck driver for Holland Freight, for over 30 years.

Sonny was born in Toledo on October 31, 1942, the son of Clarence and Neomi (Hamp) Whipple. On November 24, 2000, he married Deanna Ritter, and she survives. He was a member of St. Caspar Catholic Church in Wauseon.

Surviving is his wife, Deanna, step-children, Denise (Travis) Drenning of Wauseon and Mike (Roberta) Noe of Toledo; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Bastian and Sandra Steusloff, one brother, Robert Keeler, one grandson, Jacob Baumgartner, and nephew, Butch Seaman.

Friends may call at 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in the Pope John XXIII Room at St. Caspar Catholic Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, with the Rev. Father David Bruning, officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Caspar Catholic Church. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Great Lakes Hospice.
