Dolores E. “Mackie” Halleron, 87

Dolores E. “Mackie” Halleron, 87 years, of Toledo, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017 at Elizabeth Scott Care Center, Maumee. Dolores was born June 12, 1930 in Gibsonburg, Ohio the daughter of the late Cleotis and Rosalie (Magrum) McIntosh. Dolores was raised in St. Mary’s Parish, Toledo, and she was a 1948 graduate of Notre Dame Academy. Dolores married James F. Halleron on August 30, 1952 in Burtonwood, England and he preceded her in death on December 29, 2000. Dolores worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Lucas County Recreation Center and several other small companies. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee. She was very passionate about helping others and volunteered at the soup kitchen at Our Lady of Lourdes. She along with her husband James, helped form the local Cystic Fibrosis Chapter in Toledo, and were instrumental in many of the fundraising activities including the 65 Roses Fall Dance. In her free time, Dolores enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends, especially gathering every Thursday with her sisters.

Surviving are her three children, Deborah (Dave) Langell of Waterville, Ohio, Rebecca Szymanski of Maumee, Ohio and Rev. James Halleron of Bryan, Ohio; son-in-law, Dave Scherting of Waterville; seven grandchildren, Megan (Jon) Smith, Melissa (Lou) Trippel, Matt (Anne) Langell, Andy (Lindsey) Scherting, Anna Scherting, Nikki Szymanski and Joe Szymanski; six great-grandchildren, Abbie, Sam, Alex, Claire, Max, and James; three sisters, Rose Mowka, Carrie Corser, and Barb (Jerry) Noonan; two brothers, Jim (Joyce) McIntosh and Joe (Angie) McIntosh. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, James; two daughters, Diane Halleron and Margaret “Peggy” Scherting; four sisters, Ruth Sturtz, Bev Blake, Jean Westphal, and Pat Terry as well as three brothers, Ken McIntosh, Bill McIntosh and Infant McIntosh.

Funeral Mass for Dolores E. “Mackie” Halleron will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 West Broadway Street, Maumee, with her son, Father Jim Halleron officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Maumee. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Funeral Mass on Monday in the church, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Bryan, Ohio.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial donations be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Scleroderma Foundation, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee, St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Montpelier.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to everyone at Genesis Village in Toledo for making her feel at home after moving there from Maumee. They would also like to thank the staff at Elizabeth Scott Community for all they did for our mother during her brief stay there.
