Clifford D. Quimby, Sr. 81 years, of Montpelier, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home, Montpelier. Clifford was born December 6, 1932 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of the late Harry L. and Celesta Shafer. He married Ruth A. Nicholson on June 20, 1953 in Angola, Indiana, and she preceded him in death on January 14, 2009. Clifford was a self-employed mechanic. He had also worked at Leichty’s Farm Supply and Napoleon Spring and Coil. He was a volunteer fireman for the Stryker fire Department.
Surviving are his three sons, Lester (Helen) Quimby of Colon, Michigan, Clifford Quimby, Jr. of Bellefontaine, Ohio and Jack (Mary) Quimby of Stryker, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Sherry Quimby of Fostoria, Ohio; 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, son, Ronald Quimby, one granddaughter, Samantha Suzanne Quimby, two brothers, William and Orville Quimby and one sister, Mary Keener.
Combined Graveside Funeral Services for Clifford D. and Ruth Quimby will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Evansport Cemetery with Pastor John Sterner officiating. There will not be any visitation. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan, Ohio.
