Red Cross Asks For Donations

The American Red Cross is asking for your help. They are desperately in need of blood donors.

According to information provided by the Red Cross, each day, patients across the United States need an average of 44,000 units of red blood cells. That’s about 16-million donations.

A number of blood donation opportunites are coming up over the next few months here in our area.

To learn more, or to make a reservation to donate, simply call 1–800-RED CROSS (1–800-733‑2767) or visit redcrossblood.org.

All blood types are needed. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. The Red Cross says if you are 17 years of age or older, 16 with parental consent, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health, you most likely will be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
