Coats for Christmas underway in Defiance.

The 37th annual Coats for Christmas is underway in Defiance. Sponsored by Defiance’s First Presbyterian Church, the event asks the community for donations of warm winter coats, especially children’s coats, in good condition. These coats are then distributed free of charge to community members who may not otherwise have one to wear this winter. The church is also accepting warm winter wear, such as hats, gloves and scarves. Coat collection has begun and will continue through Nov. 10 with distribution scheduled at the church, 501 Washington Ave., on Nov. 18, from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., and on Nov. 19, from noon until 3 p.m.
