Cost of trash going up

Trash rates are going up next year, and the year after. The Bryan City Coun­cil approved the hikes. The monthly rates will go up to $23.50 begin­ning Jan­u­ary first, then up another two dol­lars in Jan­u­ary 2017. Seniors will pay $19 next year, and $21 in 2017. The rate hike is required, accord­ing to city offi­cials, because of the ris­ing costs of fuel, vehi­cles, land­fill chares, trash bags and a drop of nearly 50 per­cent in recy­cling revenue.
