Trash rates are going up next year, and the year after. The Bryan City Council approved the hikes. The monthly rates will go up to $23.50 beginning January first, then up another two dollars in January 2017. Seniors will pay $19 next year, and $21 in 2017. The rate hike is required, according to city officials, because of the rising costs of fuel, vehicles, landfill chares, trash bags and a drop of nearly 50 percent in recycling revenue.
