Defiance City Council met Tuesday night and with two members not making the meeting, council let lie five ordinances, including one to establish an endowed fund for the Andrew Tuttle Museum.
According to the Crescent News, Defiance’s annexation efforts started to become more aggressive last year. Affected property owners outside the city limits who received municipal water service were informed that their water service would be terminated if they did not agree to annexation.
Many property owners opposed that plan, with two going so far as to file court proceedings against the city. Those suits have since been dismissed.
Still, many property owners in Defiance say they didn’t like the idea of being forced to do something like that by the government.
