County commissioners agreed Monday to encourage employees on the county health care plan to have their laboratory work performed somewhere other than Parkview Physicians Group. Commissioners made their suggestion after hearing from Mike Kurivial, the county’s insurance consultant, of First Insurance Group; Melissa Bodey, senior benefits specialist with County Employee Benefits Consortium of Ohio, the county’s insurance vendor; and representatives from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Pathology Laboratories. Kurivial and Bodey said due to changes with laboratory billing procedures at PPG by Parkview Health, county employees and the county’s health plan face higher prices for laboratory services at PPG than other laboratories
