Williams County Commissioners are in anticipation of a lump sum payment of $496,855 from the state. The funds were recently authorized by the Ohio Legislature as a “make-whole” measure to replace money lost by Ohio counties when the federal government told the state last year that it could no longer charge a sales tax on Medicaid-managed care services. That 5.5 percent sales and use tax applied to Medicaid premiums and brought in about $430,000 annually to Williams County’s budget.
