The State Highway Patrols says a woman was seriously injured last Thursday evening in a three-vehicle crash in Sandusky County.
Troopers say it happened when a car driven by 52 year old Teresa Miller of Defiance, heading eastbound on U.S. 6, attempted to pass a semi. A westbound semi was forced to swerve to the right to avoid a collision with Miller’s vehicle.
Police say Miller failed to maintain control of her vehicle while attempting to return to the eastbound lane and was hit by the semi, then bounced into the path of the other semi, and the two collided.
Miller was taken by ambulance to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, with serious injuries.
The two truck drivers were not hurt.
U.S. 6 remained closed in that area for approximately six hours so that it could be cleaned up.
According to troopers, alcohol does not appear to be a factor, but the cause remains under investigation.
