A house, seven miles west of Kendallville, is a total loss after a fire on Main Street. Crews arrived to find a heavy fire in the back porch of the house. A woman who owned the home was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Another owner arrived while firefighters were working to save the structure. A total of five departments were called to Brimfield to fight the fire. It took them more than 6 hours to get the flames under control because of the cold. Fire officials think a wood burner in the house might be to blame for the blaze. The investigation continues.
