Lucas County Commissioners decide to assign 53 fewer beds at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio in 2019. Officials say the move will save $1.4 million in funding. It’s all a part of Lucas County’s push to reform their criminal justice system, by booking less criminals into a traditional jail and instead looking for other ways to get them help. As an alternative, county leaders are making more space available in the work release program, as well as the correctional treatment facility.
