Dallas Delano Dewey, 76

Dallas Delano Dewey, 76 years, of Hicksville, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Dallas was born June 19, 1944, in Woodburn, Indiana, the son of the late Solomon and Helen (DeLaurelle) Dewey.  He was a 1963 graduate of Hicksville High School.  Dallas married his high school sweetheart Sally D. Scott on June 29, 1963, in Hicksville, and she survives.  Dallas was a Lead Diesel Mechanic working for International Harvester (Navistar) for 38 years, retiring in 2003.  Dallas was a patent holder for several different patents while working for International Harvester.  He enjoyed shooting guns at targets, and could always be found tinkering in his garage, fixing something for someone or working on people’s cars.  He also volunteered his time fixing wheelchairs and medical equipment for the Cripple Children’s Society.  Dallas loved spending time with his family, creating memories that last a lifetime.

Surviving is his wife, Sally of Hicksville; three children, Alisa (Mike) Burlingame of Hicksville, Shad Dewey of Hicksville and Amanda (Tim) Perroud of Brighton, Michigan; six grandchildren, Abigail Beckham, Evan Sechler, Ty Perroud, Kyle (Heather) Burlingame, Tonya (Chad) Bauman, and Kody Burlingame; seven great-grandchildren, David Beckham, Leah Burlingame, Drew Burlingame, Brett Burlingame, Paizley Burlingame, Jackson Bauman and Lady Bauman.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Shelia Howard and Sandra Wallace.

There will be no public visitation or services at this time.  Public graveside funeral services will be held at a later date in the Spring in Forest Home Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43526.

The family has requested that those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to Hicksville Crippled Children’s Society or to Make a Wish Foundation.
