The deadline for recommendations from Governor DeWine’s property tax reform working group is coming up next week. The panel has until September 30th to deliver ideas on relieving some of the property tax burden on Ohio farmers and citizens. Members of the working group have discussed an approach similar to the one laid out in Ohio House Bill 186, which would limit property tax increases to the rate of inflation based on the Consumer Price Index. There has also been talk of increasing tax credits for homeowners and eliminating some credits for corporations that own rental houses in the state.
