DEFIANCE BACKS DOWN TO GM

Defiance city officials are now having second thoughts regarding a deadline they previously issued, requiring the local General Motors plant on Ohio 281 to begin annexation proceedings or have their municipal water service shut off.

A letter attempting to force the issue was sent to GM earlier this year in which GM was told that it had until Nov. 1 to comply.

GM balked at the city’s order. Now, city officials are backing away from the matter.
