Defiance County commissioners held the first of two public hearings on a proposed county sales tax increase during their regular meeting Monday. The hearing was held to discuss the proposed increase of the county’s sales tax from 6.75% to 7.25%. Commissioners are contemplating the increase as a proactive measure due to pending and possible changes in state tax laws.
