Defiance Council Approves Purchases And Lease

Defi­ance City Coun­cil, at their reg­u­lar meet­ing on Tues­day night, approved safety equip­ment pur­chases and a loader lease.

Coun­cil also autho­rized the pur­chase of two Lucas 2 auto­mated chest com­pres­sion sys­tems, and the acqui­si­tion of new fire breath­ing appa­ra­tus.

Actu­ally, the fire depart­ment requested only one of the units, but coun­cil felt two units would be ben­e­fi­cial, so they approved spend­ing $25,422 for both.

Defi­ance City Coun­cil also autho­rized the pur­chase of 14 air masks, two receivers and two face shield brack­ets for the fire depart­ment at a cost of $58,088.

As for the loader lease, Coun­cil approved a lease for a Cater­pil­lar model 938 wheel loader from The Ohio Cat Rental Store dur­ing Decem­ber, Jan­u­ary, Feb­ru­ary and March. The loader will be put to use for snow removal.
