Defiance City Council, at their regular meeting on Tuesday night, approved safety equipment purchases and a loader lease.
Council also authorized the purchase of two Lucas 2 automated chest compression systems, and the acquisition of new fire breathing apparatus.
Actually, the fire department requested only one of the units, but council felt two units would be beneficial, so they approved spending $25,422 for both.
Defiance City Council also authorized the purchase of 14 air masks, two receivers and two face shield brackets for the fire department at a cost of $58,088.
As for the loader lease, Council approved a lease for a Caterpillar model 938 wheel loader from The Ohio Cat Rental Store during December, January, February and March. The loader will be put to use for snow removal.
