DEFIANCE EARMARKS STREET FUNDS

Defiance plans on spending less than $200,000 this year to resurface city streets.

Actually, the city plans to use just $179,529 in capital improvements fund money to resurface parts of nine streets.

A resurfacing contract has not been authorized yet by city council, and some council members believe that much more needs to be spent.

For instance, one estimatte to rebuild College Place alone — from Webster to North Clinton streets, came in at around $750,000.

Some are saying that $1-$1.2 million would need to be spent every year for 20 years to bring all streets into top shape.
