Defiance Inks Fire Contracts

Good news for Defi­ance fire­fight­ers. City Coun­cil approved a new three year con­tract with the fire­fight­ers, that calls for annual raises on Tues­day night.

The new con­tract is retroac­tive to Jan. 1 and will run until Dec. 31, 2017. Under the terms of the new con­tract, raises of 2.75 per­cent for each of the next three years will be given. The new con­tract has been rat­i­fied by the fire­fight­ers union.

Also at Tues­day night’s coun­cil meet­ing, an ordi­nance autho­riz­ing a con­tract to reha­bil­i­tate a water treat­ment plant clar­i­fier, at a cost of $33,420 was approved.
