It’s all about the family and being together at the second annual Family Fun Fest at the Defiance Area YMCA this Saturday. The festival is a get-together of 15 area churches, featuring food, fun and friends. The idea to promote families began at the First Church of God in Defiance where Pastor Rick Rufenacht first started with a picnic in a park, and now its become a large celebration. The event is free and geared towards families. One big benefit is for families that don’t have these types of opportunities. Money is tight for many in northwest Ohio, and the group is happy to partner with underwriters to pay for the event. Last year, in its first year, when the event was held at Diehl Park, Family Fun Fest drew more than 2,200 people. This year the organizers are hoping to see more people at the Defiance area YMCA. Saturday 4 to 7 p.m.
