Derrill L. Kline, 98

Derrill L. Kline, 98, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Vancrest of Hicksville, Hicksville, Ohio.  Derrill was born December 10, 1923, in Hicksville, Ohio, son of the late Bruce C. and Leota M. (Voght) Kline.  He was a 1941 graduate of Hicksville High School.  Derrill proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, from December 1944 until his honorable discharge in November 1946.  Derrill married Cora E. Bucher on February 7, 1953, and she preceded him in death on May 11, 2012.  He was a lifelong farmer.  Derrill was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Hicksville.  He was a founding member of the Ohio Cattleman’s Association and the Defiance County Farm Bureau. He also served on the Hicksville Grain Board, Ohio State Farm Bureau Board, Producers Livestock Association Board, Defiance Landmark Board and a 70-year member of the Hicksville Masonic Lodge 478. In his free time, he loved to spend time with his family, and always supported them in whatever they did.

Derrill is survived by his three children, Dr. Mike (Laura) Kline of Maplewood, Ohio, Joan (Greg) Garmyn of Hicksville, Ohio, and Jim (Suzy) Kline of Hicksville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Theresa (Weston) Walters, Dr. Andrea Garmyn, B.J. Kline, Kimberly (Geoffry) Warner, Katy (C.J.) Gaskill and Chris (Lexie) Kline; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Guy Bookout. Derrill was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Cora; and one sister, Phyllis Robinett.

Visitation for Derrill Kline will be held Monday, April 11, 2022, from 3:00 – 6:45 P.M. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville with Masonic Lodge Services beginning at 6:45 P.M. in the funeral home.  Funeral Services for Derrill will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Spears officiating.  Interment will follow in Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by Hicksville American Legion Post 223.
